According to The New York Times, the Department of Justice told an antitrust hearing in Washington that Google should be forced to divest core assets such as its Chrome browser in order to break up its monopoly in online search. Prosecutors say Chrome is a key entry point for users to the search engine, and that a breakup would help competitors access market data and improve services. The case is expected to last three weeks, with final "remedies" to be decided this summer.
