On Wednesday local time, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into classrooms in the United States. While the specific text of the executive order has not been released, a copy of the draft obtained by The Washington Post shows that the executive order calls for training students in AI application capabilities and pushes schools to partner with businesses to implement relevant teaching plans. The order will direct Education Secretary Linda McMahon to prioritize the use of federal funds to train teachers and administrators on how to apply AI and incorporate it into teaching in all disciplines. According to the report, the US government will establish an artificial intelligence education task force to encourage federal agencies to partner with the private sector, with the goal of teaching students "basic artificial intelligence literacy and critical thinking skills."
