The United States plans to use energy cooperation to win over Russia in order to facilitate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine

The Trump administration sees co-operation with Russia in the energy sector as one of the key economic temptations to win Kremlin support as it pushes for a deal to end the conflict with Ukraine, according to people familiar with the talks, who said the proposed peace deal could include joint projects in the Arctic, as well as co-operation in oil, gas and rare earth minerals.
