On April 29th, U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnik: Automakers made in the United States will receive a 15% deduction on the value of those vehicles when importing parts; all vehicles assembled in the United States and containing 85% local parts content will be exempt from tariffs. This will help domestic automakers relocate their supply chains to the United States. All vehicles made in the United States will enjoy tariff relief; tariffs will apply to foreign automakers that produce cars in the United States. The tariff relief will be phased in over three years to allow automakers to establish supply chains in the United States.
