Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, two developers of the Bitcoin privacy wallet Samourai Wallet, face charges of money laundering and operating a money transfer business without a license. Although the defense pointed out that the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) had said that the wallet may not meet the definition of a money transfer provider under the Bank Secrecy Act, the prosecution refused to drop the charges and denied that there was a "Brady violation" (i.e. failure to disclose evidence in favor of the defendant). The prosecution believes that the opinion of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network is not related to the more serious money laundering charges. The case will move forward as originally planned, and is expected to enter the trial stage within the next seven months.
