ZachXBT: Exchange phone verification mechanism poses serious security risks

Crypto detective ZachXBT commented on the recent Coinbase user data breach, noting that the exchange's practice of asking for phone numbers is extremely insecure. He stressed that scammers have led to a large amount of funds being stolen by forging phone calls and text messages showing "Coinbase". ZachXBT said that since most people only have one phone number and many websites ask for it, these numbers will eventually be exposed in data breaches, leaving unskilled users with little protection against such attacks.
Previously, it was reported that some attackers obtained information by bribing Coinbase employees, specifically targeting high-net-worth account users with 7-8-figure assets.
