US Treasury Secretary Vincent Bescent will attend the G7 finance leaders' meeting in Canada on Tuesday and will seek to refocus the G7 on addressing trade imbalances and non-market economic practices, a US Treasury spokesperson said on Sunday. Mr. Bescent will also discuss with the officials how to achieve more growth, led by the private sector, the Treasury spokesperson said. Mr. Bescent has also vowed to "re-privatize" the US economy by cutting government spending and regulation, arguing it is too reliant on the public sector to drive growth. Mr. Bescent held his first face-to-face discussions with G7 finance leaders on the sidelines of international monetary fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings in April, but did not issue a joint statement.
