Elon Musk, who spent more than $250 million helping Mr. Trump win a second term, said on Tuesday that he planned to sharply reduce political contributions in the future. But when asked by the Qatar Economic Forum whether he would maintain the same size of donations in future elections, Mr. Musk denied it. "I think there will be a significant reduction in political contributions in the future," he said. Asked why, he responded simply: "I think I've done enough." The world's richest man also left room for a change in attitude. "If I see a need for political donations in the future, I will still do it," he said. "But I don't see a reason at the moment." The comments could disappoint Republicans seeking re-election in 2026. In addition to supporting Trump's donations, Musk spent more than $19m in the final stages of the 2024 election to help Republicans win a narrow majority in Congress.
