Apple plans to allow third-party developers to write software using its artificial intelligence models, with the aim of driving the development of new apps and enhancing the appeal of its devices. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple is developing a Software Development Kit and related frameworks that will enable outside developers to build AI capabilities based on the company's large language models for the Apple Intelligence platform. Apple plans to unveil the plans at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9. Apple Intelligence already supports several features in iOS and macOS, such as notification summarization, text editing, and base image creation. The new initiative will allow developers to integrate the technology into specific features, or even entire applications. Apple's strategy this time is to open up AI capabilities to developers to stimulate more potential application scenarios. An Apple spokesperson declined to comment.
