President Donald Trump has said that while he has given US carmakers "some leeway" on tariffs, he expects carmakers to fully resume domestic auto manufacturing next year. "All manufacturers will make parts here as well," Mr. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office in response to questions about tariffs affecting companies such as Tesla. "It used to bother me that [carmakers] make a part in Canada, make a part in Mexico, make a part in Europe and send it everywhere and nobody really knows what's going on," Mr. Trump continued. "I think you build a car and you make it in America... In the next year they have to make everything made in America."
