Japan's top trade negotiator, Ryosho Akasawa, said progress had been made in the latest round of tariff talks with the Trump administration and a deal could be reached early next month, but he gave no details. Akasawa said after meeting with US Treasury Secretary Vincent Besant and Commerce Secretary J.K. Lutnik in Washington on Friday that the two sides would meet again before the June 15-17 G7 summit. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and US President Donald Trump are expected to hold talks during the summit.
