The Department of Justice on Monday asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to extend the stay on a previous May 28 ruling by a lower court invalidating the tariffs. The administration says the ruling hurts the president's ability to carry out foreign policy. The Federal Circuit can now decide at any time whether to suspend the order during an appeal process that could take months. The U.S. government also said it will go to the U.S. Supreme Court if the appeals court lifts the current suspension.
