The hacking group "Gonjeshke Darande" (Persian for "fierce sparrow") has announced a cyber attack on Iranian cryptocurrency exchange Nobitex, warning that it will make public the exchange's source code and internal network information within 24 hours.
The group accused Nobitex of being a central tool for the Iranian regime to circumvent international sanctions and fund terrorist activities, even publicly instructing users on how to use its infrastructure to bypass sanctions. The hacking group also claimed that working on Nobitex is seen by the Iranian government as an effective military service, highlighting the importance of the exchange to the Iranian regime.
Previously, the hacker group launched an attack on Bank Sepah of Iran's Revolutionary Guards. The hackers warned Nobitex users to withdraw their assets as soon as possible, saying that "any assets remaining on the platform after this point in time will be at risk."
Previously, the Iranian crypto exchange Nobitex was suspected of being hacked and lost $48.65 million
