According to Xinhua News Agency, citing the British "Financial Times" report on the 24th, Bjorn Seibert, the chief of staff of European Union President von der Leyen, said that before the July 9 deadline for trade talks between Europe and the United States, the European Union needs to coordinate its position and be ready to take more tariff countermeasures against the United States to form a "real threat" to the United States. Seibert said that von der Leyen is ready to take tariff countermeasures against the United States to escalate in order to strive for a better deal. He wants European Union member states to support a package of tariffs on U.S. goods worth 95 billion euros, and said the European Union is also preparing measures targeting services, including levies on U.S. technology companies and restrictions on U.S. companies' access to public procurement contracts.
