According to the Wall Street Journal, Brooke Rollins, the US agriculture secretary, said the Trump administration could consider exemptions from tariffs on goods that are difficult to grow in the US, such as cocoa beans or coffee. At present, these goods are included in the scope of comprehensive tariffs, and Democrats have therefore attacked Republicans for raising costs. "Everything is under discussion at the moment, and I think it's important to fully understand and develop a comprehensive strategy for some of the products that we can't produce domestically that supports all of the above goals - keeping grocery prices low in the US, making sure to bring inflation down as promised, while once again pushing our products globally," Rollins said in an interview.
