Luke Dashjr faced criticism for refusing to assign a BIP number to the proposal of Casey Rodarmor, a core contributor to Bitcoin. Luke Dashjr believed that Ordinals was a spam protocol and therefore did not take the proposal seriously, or even assign a BIP number to it. Luke Dashjr even had his mining pool OCEAN filter Ordinals transactions from many of the blocks he mined.
