The Arkansas Crypto Mining Association is suing two Arkansas officials for enforcing an unconstitutional discriminatory state rule that prohibits foreign-born U.S. citizens from engaging in crypto mining activities, among other things. Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin and Lawrence Bengal, director of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission, filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas on March 13.
The move follows a federal court ruling in November that temporarily barred Arkansas from blocking a naturalized Chinese-American citizen from operating a cryptocurrency mining business. The relevant rules in Arkansas are "Rule K" and "Bill 174", which prohibits foreign-controlled businesses in the state.
