President Donald Trump's new tariffs could cost U.S. semiconductor equipment makers more than $1 billion a year, according to industry calculations discussed with officials and lawmakers in Washington last week, two people familiar with the matter said. The big three U.S. chipmakers - Applied Materials (AMAT. O), LRXC. O and KLAC. O - could lose about $350 million over a year from the tariffs. Smaller rivals like Onto Innovation could also face tens of millions of dollars in additional spending.
