The X account of Lucy Powell, the leader of the UK House of Commons, was hacked and used to promote the "HCC" token scam

According to the BBC, the X account of Lucy Powell, leader of the UK House of Commons, has been hacked and used to promote the fraudulent "House of Commons" cryptocurrency. On Powell's X account, a series of now-deleted posts described the "HCC" token as "a community-driven digital currency that brings the power of the people to the blockchain". The MP's office confirmed that her account had been hacked on Tuesday morning and said "swift steps have been taken to secure the account and remove misleading posts". A number of public figures with large followings, including BBC correspondent Nick Robinson, have recently suffered similar cyber hacks.
Luke Nolan, a senior researcher at CoinShares, said the hack of the Powell account was an example of "pulling up shipments", with only 34 transactions taking place on the token, which may have generated a profit of around £225.
